The Sabbath Mug in Cobalt
This mug was inspired by our community’s pursuit of rest as a part of our weekly rhythms, as this timeless shape captures the balance of simplicity and beauty. Made from white clay, this mug is glazed in our new color, Cobalt. This stoneware mug is microwave and dishwasher safe but we recommend hand washing as the best way to preserve the longevity of the piece. Whether it’s coffee in the morning or paired with your evening dessert, this mug will be the one you want to reach for everyday.
A quote from "Rest,” a piece written by Jonathan Helser for Cultivate Volume IV.
“Life begins by receiving. God’s design is to work from rest, not for rest. It is easy to slip into the rat race in our performance-driven culture and work for rest, instead of from it. But God flips this idea upside down. This is the nature of God: God loves us for who we are, not what we do….We don’t work for His pleasure, we work from His pleasure.”
Each of these mugs were hand thrown by Erica Allen and Emily Pell of the Cageless Birds. Variations of size, shape and glaze application can be proudly embraced, making this piece truly one of a kind.
